This page is a workspace for a forest policy portal, to access the main page, click on "EFI policy portal" above. We are testing the use of semantic links to organise information on policy processes institutions and instruments, in a "collaborative database" (recent changes).
Data collection
Definitions
- Institutions are used conversely with "organization" - a social arrangement which pursues collective goals, which controls its own performance, and which has a boundary separating it from its environment.
- Policy processes are the chains of activities, initiatives and events, from the very beginning of raising an issue on the political agenda, to argumentation, possible confrontation, political struggle, coalition, negotiation, compromise, solution and finally to implementation.
- Policy instrument The most commonly used policy tools include regulatory, economic and informational instruments.

Templates
Template for Semantic infobox
Thierry Daunois has prepared the Template:EFI_policy_portal. This is the main template to use on pages of policy instruments, policy processes and institutions.
- Paul Rougieux copied templates from Template:Semantic_Infobox_EFI_Process to produce those 3 templates: 1.Template:Policy instrument 2.Template:Policy process 3.Template:Institution and tried to create a master template Template:Policy portal, meant to be imported by the other 3 templates, but this approach didn't work well and was abandonned for the singal template above.
For those interested in wiki design, particularly information and navigation boxes, you might want to read:

Criteria and Indicator for Sustainable Forest Management (C&I for SFM)
See: FOREST EUROPE criteria and indicators.
EFORWOOD indicators
The sustainability indicators used in EFORWOOD project: "in relation to the whole forestry wood chain (FWC) [...] need to be defined for all three pillars of sustainability (10 environmental, 9 economic and 8 social indicators are used). The indicators have been chosen with due reference to and consideration for all relevant indicator development processes on sustainability indicators in the EU. This applies in particular to EU sustainable development indicators and the EU Sustainability Impact Assessment Guidelines."
We are testing the use of these indicators. The page Special:SearchByProperty/EFORWOOD-20indicator/Forest-20biodiversity will show a list of all pages that have property "EFORWOOD indicator" with value "Forest biodiversity"
I cannot enter indicators as metadata in the semantic infobox because there is a "many-to-many relashionship": one process can relate to many indicators and vice-versa, one indicator can be used by many processes.
