Semantic mediawiki
Semantic MediaWiki can turn a wiki into a powerful and flexible “collaborative database”. All data created within SMW can easily be published via the Semantic Web, allowing other systems to use this data seamlessly.
- Semantic MediaWiki was initially created by Markus Krötzsch, Denny Vrandečić and Max Völkel, and was first released in 2005. Its development was initially funded by the EU-funded FP6 project SEKT (Semantically Enabled Knowledge Technologies), and was later supported in part by Institute AIFB of the University of Karlsruhe (later renamed the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology).
- Wikipedia and the Semantic Web - The Missing Links was a proposal to include semantic functionality in wikipedia written in 2005 by Markus Krötzsch & Denny Vrandečić & Max Völkel.
- Markus Kroetzsch works at the university of Oxford, Denny Vrandecic and Max Völkel work at the university of Karlsruhe AIFB. Check their semantic web research area.
Power of semantic search
This queries all pages where the property "EFORWOOD indicator" has the value "Forest biodiversity"
Example sites
A list of example sites can be found at project of the month:
- KnowIt makes use of most semantic extensions, such as Semantic Forms to standardize annotations and display of pages, Semantic Results Formats to render queries, or Semantic Maps. Several regular extensions are used as well : External Data to import remote content, the PubMed extension for citations, Replace Text to help with Maintenance, and many more.
Layout of this working page
Dears I changed the layout to have a more compact page, separating in tabs the data collecation, and the display of collected information for institutions, processes and instruments + and addtional tab for technical information. --Paul Rougieux 18:19, 23 January 2012 (CET)
