Soil condition is the 23 indicator in the ToSIA system.
Indicator's description: Soil condition as expressed by chemical soil properties, and soil compaction.
Sub-indicators
- Chemical soil properties related to soil acidity and eutrophisation classified by main soil types:
- a) pH (pH classes)
- b) CEC (cmol per kg)
- c) C:N ratio (ratio)
- d) organic C (g per kg)
- e) base saturation (% - calculated as sum base cations CEC * 100)
- f) site nutrient budget averaged over total rotation period - N, P, K, Ca, Mg (% difference over total rotation period)
- Soil compaction from machine operations (soil density in kg per dm3)
