Abstract

Cet article rapporte les résultats de tests d'intelligence, verbaux et au toucher dans la population totale d'enfants présentant des troubles de vision, élevés en braille néerlandais et néerlandais belges. Les scores de ces enfants, avec ou sons vision utilisable, correspondaient bien à ce qui était attendu. Les enfants avec une vision utilisable avaient des scores glus élevés aux tests spatiaux. Ceux qui n'avaient aucune vision réussissaient mieux aux tests de mémoire verbale et de réussite scolaire pour la précision de l'écriture et la capacité de lecture. Les enfants bénéficiant d'une scolarité régulière ou intégrée avaient des scores plus élevés sur le raisonnement verbal et les tests de réussite scolaire

<front><div type="abstract" xml:lang="en">This paper reports the results of verbal and haptic intelligence tests for the whole population of the visually impaired, braille-educated Dutch children and Dutch-speaking children in Belgium. The scores of children with and without usable vision generally confirmed expectations. Children with usable vision had higher spatial test scores. Those without usable vision did better on verbal memory tests and school-achievement tests for writing accuracy and technical reading. Children in regular or integrated education scored higher on verbal, reasoning and school-achievement tests. Evaluation of the effect of systematically varied task factors in four spatial tests indicated that, for two of the tests, having usable vision interacted with the task factors.</div>
