The Federal Research and Training Centre for Forests, Natural Hazards and Landscape (BFW) is an austrian autonomous sector research institute based on public law. The objective of the institute is to generate and disseminate knowledge on forests, natural hazards and landscapes. Continuing education and training for foresters are delivered by the two BFW-Forest Training Centres in Ort and Ossiach. BFW also acts as the Austrian Federal Forest Office in executing the Austrian Federal Law on Forest Reproductive Material and the Federal Law on Plant Protection regarding forest plants and their products.
