Abstract
This paper describes a graphic simulation and animation system for complex industrial construction processes design. Thanks to a hierarchy of procedures corresponding to different knowledge levels, the system allows an inexpert user to obtain both numerical and visual simulation solutions of planning problems, simply by specifying the goals to be achieved\, : once these goals are specified, they launch actions, which themselves launch other sequences of actions, and finally these actions generate elementary movements of mobile objects (actors of the process). An industrial application is presented. The system has been used to provide a graphic simulation and animation of an automated building construction process in a highly spatially constrainted environment.
