Abstract

Highlights

General Surgery residents are preparing to be in the frontlines of the response against COVID-19.

They are ready to care for COVID-19 patients despite the risk of personal or familial harm.

Recommendations for their adequate preparedness include increased testing capacity, ensuring adequate personal protective equipment availability, and transitioning to a shift schedule in order to minimize exposure risk and prevent burnout.
