Abstract
A common and easy method of assessing changes in limb swelling as a result of cancer treatment is to measure arm circumference at regular intervals. To ascertain whether this is a reliable, reproducible and accurate method, a study of five therapists' techniques was carried out. The results indicated that any differences in measurements between therapists were minimal. The author concludes that this therefore is a reliable method but highlights the need for guidelines to be carefully followed.
