Abstract

ABSTRACT: Two patients in Foya Kamara had necrotizing cutaneons ulcers. Subsequent histopathologic studies proved these to be Buruli ulcers (infection by Mycobacterium ulcerans. Previously, this infection had not been recognized west of Ghana. These are the most western example of the disease in Africa and extend the known endemic area about 1,000 km west.
