Abstract
Abstract: 4-Amino-7-iodoquinoline and five N4-substituted [(CH2)nNR'R″] 4-amino-7-iodoquinolines were labelled with iodine-125 for distribution studies in the rat. Following intravenous injection the iodoquinolines clear rapidly from the blood and high levels of radioactivity are found in the lungs and the liver with a progressive increase in activity in the spleen. The excretion of the bile and urine varies between 7 and 63% in total, depending on the stucture of the amino side chain, and the activity represents a mixture of metabolites of which the major components are amphoteric.
