Abstract
The fragment of Is 60,9-11, almost a Magnificat of the Old Testament, an echo of various prophetical oracles and a liturgical responsory of the community, has a deep symbolical meaning, in which the single elements (respectively the nuptial and the rural clothing) merge into an image of nuptial fertility at the same time rich of messianic tones. It is the answer of Israel's praying faith, in the joy due to its return from exile, which exalts divine initiative, a new stage in the history of salvation which manifests the justice that produces salvation, and, through the praise of God, becomes universal testimony
