O3D Project - CODATA 2010 Cape Town

From Wicri Engineering

O3D stands for "Observatoire des Données du Dévelopement Durable". It is a section of Codata France which has been developed to the stage to become an International Data Kiosk for Sustainable Development.

Objectives

O3D aims at:

  • initiating an International Network - the O3D Club - enabling its members to acquire a scientific multi-disciplinary knowledge on all aspects of Sustainable Development. The members are decision makers, scientists, researchers, academics, engineers, managers and politicians. They are all aware that Sustainable Development requires a totally new approach to meet the challenges of an entirely new world.
  • communicating the work of the members through various conferences, seminars, workshops, publications, with the support of this wiki database.

Philosophy of the O3D project

Sustainable Development is a fascinating set of disciplines facing the challenges of the future with very promising insights of the tomorrow world. However, we are all facing the very high risks to embark on abortive projects or to make the wrong decisions in the domains of the unknown.

As is well known, a new paradigm is needed. For O3D, this new paradigm includes:

  • A scientific and rational approach
  • A multidisciplinary Knowledge
  • A continuous learning process as a life discipline
  • The need to belong to a well structured collective international network.

All topics with a direct link with Sustainable Development are welcome in O3D. This includes usual topics like climate change, demography, renewable energy, fossil resources, nuclear industry, nuclear weapons, waste, water, food, health, world agriculture, agro based chemistry, batteries, transport, housing… but also human sciences, management, national and international law, norms and standards, geopolitics...

Why become a member ?

Taking part in the O3D project means:

  • reaching a level of knowledge necessary to come to the right decisions and innovations in the different domains of Sustainable Development, the change of paradigm making rather uncertain the traditional decision processes.
  • being in a position to communicate, share, develop, publish some personal work, be a member of the Working Group publications.
  • preparing a doctorate or any other diploma or references. Belonging to such a "club" can be a plus in the development of a professional career.
  • collecting credible data for your own dossiers and projects.
  • creating your international network with highly qualified specialists.
  • contributing as a member of an independent body, to the invention of to-morrow World with the conviction that it is possible to make it better than to-day one’s, provided that responsible citizens acquire the knowledge required to do so.
  • dedicating part of your “free time” to a fascinating international project.
