Sommaire
COLOR
White with weak pleochroism. Takes a good polish.
REFLECTANCE
Rather high. Lower than galena. About the same as for lead sulfantimonides.
ANISOTROPISM
Bright in highly characteristic colored tints; orange-red brown to green.
TEXTURE
The mineral generally develops idiomorphically. Always shows beautiful twin lamellae with a distinc cleavage parallel to the twin planes.
ASSOCIATED MINERALS
Stannite, miargyrite, native bismuth, cassiterite, chalcostibite, owyheeite.
CRITERIA OF DETERMINATION
This mineral is easy to distinguish and cannot be misidentified because of orange-brown to green polarization colors, twin lamellae, distinc cleavage, high reflectance and color of sulfosalts. The mineral association is also highly characteristic.
