Abstract
Summary: The character and the distribution of slope debris and “plateau loams (Plateaulehme)” in the “Hochwald” region, Western Hunsrück, are described.According to the heavy mineral association of the youngest “Laacher Bimstuff” (pumice-tuff), the slope debris may be divided into basal (pre-Alleröd age) and covering layers (post-Alleröd age, that is Dryas III).Some of the “plateau loams” may possibly be of Tertiary age but others which were formerly dated as older Pleistocene or Tertiary, are thought to have a younger origin. As far as the development of small valleys is concerned, a period of strong linear incision during the older Würm era was followed by a distinct period of infilling by coarse sediments. Following the Alleröd age, processes of accumulation are again characteristic for the development of the valleys.At present, only small amounts of humic soil are being washed from cultivated land. Vertical incision by streams occurs exceptionally. Generally, the accumulation of flood sediments seems to be predominant.

Anhand ihres Gehaltes an der Schwermineralassoziation der jüngsten Laacher Bimstuffe können die Schuttkörper in präallerödzeitlichen Basisschutt und postallerödzeitlichen (jungtundrenzeitlichen) Deckschutt gegliedert werden.Einige der Plateaulehme besitzen möglicherweise tertiäres Alter, für andere, bisher als altpleistozän bis tertiär angesehene wird eine jüngere Entstehung angenommen.Die kleinen Tälchen erlebten nach einer kräftigen Tiefenerosionsphase imälteren Würm eine ausgeprägte Talverschüttung. Akkumulation kennzeichnet auch ihre Entwicklung nach dem Alleröd.Rezent findet v.a. auf den gerodeten Landstrichen geringe Abspülung von Humusboden statt. As far as the development of small valleys is concerned, a period of strong linear incision during the older Würm era was followed by a distinct period of infilling by coarse sediments. Following the Alleröd age, processes of accumulation are again characteristic for the development of the valleys.</ce:simple-para><ce:simple-para>At present, only small amounts of humic soil are being washed from cultivated land. Vertical incision by streams occurs exceptionally. Generally, the accumulation of flood sediments seems to be predominant.</ce:simple-para></ce:abstract-sec></ce:abstract><ce:abstract id="ab2" class="author" xml:lang="de"><ce:section-title>Zusammenfassung</ce:section-title><ce:abstract-sec><ce:simple-para>Ausbildung und Verbreitung von Hangschuttdecken und Plateaulehmen im “Hochwald” (Westlicher Hunsrück) werden beschrieben. Anhand ihres Gehaltes an der Schwermineralassoziation der jüngsten Laacher Bimstuffe können die Schuttkörper in präallerödzeitlichen Basisschutt und postallerödzeitlichen (jungtundrenzeitlichen) Deckschutt gegliedert werden.</ce:simple-para><ce:simple-para>Einige der Plateaulehme besitzen möglicherweise tertiäres Alter, für andere, bisher als altpleistozän bis tertiär angesehene wird eine jüngere Entstehung angenommen.</ce:simple-para><ce:simple-para>Die kleinen Tälchen erlebten nach einer kräftigen Tiefenerosionsphase imälteren Würm eine ausgeprägte Talverschüttung. Akkumulation kennzeichnet auch ihre Entwicklung nach dem Alleröd.</ce:simple-para><ce:simple-para>Rezent findet v.a. auf den gerodeten Landstrichen geringe Abspülung von Humusboden statt. distribution of slope debris and “plateau loams (Plateaulehme)” in the “Hochwald” region, Western Hunsrück, are described.According to the heavy mineral association of the youngest “Laacher Bimstuff” (pumice-tuff), the slope debris may be divided into basal (pre-Alleröd age) and covering layers (post-Alleröd age, that is Dryas III).Some of the “plateau loams” may possibly be of Tertiary age but others which were formerly dated as older Pleistocene or Tertiary, are thought to have a younger origin. As far as the development of small valleys is concerned, a period of strong linear incision during the older Würm era was followed by a distinct period of infilling by coarse sediments. Following the Alleröd age, processes of accumulation are again characteristic for the development of the valleys.At present, only small amounts of humic soil are being washed from cultivated land. Vertical incision by streams occurs exceptionally. Generally, the accumulation of flood sediments seems to be predominant.</abstract><abstract lang="de">Zusammenfassung: Ausbildung und Verbreitung von Hangschuttdecken und Plateaulehmen im “Hochwald” (Westlicher Hunsrück) werden beschrieben. Anhand ihres Gehaltes an der Schwermineralassoziation der jüngsten Laacher Bimstuffe können die Schuttkörper in präallerödzeitlichen Basisschutt und postallerödzeitlichen (jungtundrenzeitlichen) Deckschutt gegliedert werden.Einige der Plateaulehme besitzen möglicherweise tertiäres Alter, für andere, bisher als altpleistozän bis tertiär angesehene wird eine jüngere Entstehung angenommen.Die kleinen Tälchen erlebten nach einer kräftigen Tiefenerosionsphase imälteren Würm eine ausgeprägte Talverschüttung. Akkumulation kennzeichnet auch ihre Entwicklung nach dem Alleröd.Rezent findet v.a. auf den gerodeten Landstrichen geringe Abspülung von Humusboden statt.
