The Convention on the Conservation of European Wildlife and Natural Habitats (Bern Convention) recognizes the need to take positive actions for nature conservation but also to integrate concerns for biodiversity in national policies dealing with planning and development, as well as in countries’ measures against pollution. Bern Convention Parties have developed guidance over the years on how to best protect wild fauna, flora and natural habitats as well as addressing some of the main threats faced.
