The National Sustainable Development Strategy (French : Stratégie nationale de développement durable, SNDD) provides a frame of reference and policy framework for all national, public and private stakeholders in the field of sustainable development. Its main purpose is to ensure the coherence and complementarity of France's international and European commitments and national, cross-cutting and sectorial policies.

Objective
  • Increase State purchases of wood from products from sustainably-managed forests (eco-certified) to 100% with effect from 2010
  • Reinforcing experiments in regional development which use renewable heat networks, wood-fired boilers or geothermal systems
  • Promoting wood from sustainably-managed forests (ecocertified) and the use of biomaterials produced under sustainable conditions
  • Promoting sustainable agriculture and forestry
