Abstract

Abstract: Grid computing, high-performance and distributed applications – the GADA environment –  provides much of the platform for transformative approaches to the conduct of scientific and engineering research and associated education that are now  being called e-science or cyberinfrastructure (CI)-enhanced science. This talk will review progress in this area with reference to initiatives of the U.S. National Science Foundation and similar  European agencies over the last decade. The speaker will provide his assessment of where we now stand and highlight some remaining challenges and opportunities.
