Abstract
This paper gives an overview of CONSTRUE, a program developed at Manchester to assist students in their reading of prescribed texts. After a brief survey of similar existing programs, the paper describes the mam features of CONSTRUE and plans for its development. It is argued that major programming investment is needed for the provision of facilities such as this on a larger scale There is a need for consulting students at the design and testing stages.
