Abstract

Haptic rendering allows users to feel virtual objects in a simulated environment. This paper briefly surveys haptic systems and the techniques needed for rendering the way objects feel. It also describes basic haptic-rendering algorithms that help to decide what force should be exerted and how to deliver such force to users.
