Abstract
Copyright (c) 1997 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.Avalanche up-conversion and two-step absorption are reported in Y2SiO5:Tm3+. Absorption of red laser light produces intense blue fluorescence. Steady-state and temporal measurements are used to investigate the up-conversion mechanisms.
