Abstract

Summary: Using a gas target with 0.63 µm of nickel foil inserted in front of the target, excitation functions have been measured for elastic and inelastic scattering of protons from22Ne at proton energies from 2.4 MeV to 3.2 MeV in 3 keV steps at eleven laboratory angles from 29° to 165°. The above data are used to obtain information about states in23Na with a widthΓ > 3 keV. It is suggested that the analog isobaric state of the 9th excited state of23Ne in23Na would lie aroundE ex=11.85 MeV (E p=3.2 MeV).
