Abstract
We discuss the application of the order-disorder concept in oxygen octahedra ABO3 ferroelectrics. Our experimental results can be understood if we assume that B substitution with 3d transition ions, results in two opposite effects: an enhanced long range electrostatic order at the B sites, as well as a short range electronic overlap disorder at the 3d substituting ions. The frustration of the corresponding electronic properties in this “inverse” glass structure may have crucial consequences on the diffusion of the phase transition and on the oxygen vacancy ordering.
