Abstract

Résumé: Le zinc est un stabilisateur de membranes qui module la fonction de protéines membranaires et interfère avec I'action des autres cations bivalents, mais c'est surtout une composante nécessaire à la fonction de nombreuses métalloprotéines. II exerce des effets insulinomimétiques et favorise la déformabilité des hématies. L'exercice à court terme entraîne des redistributions du zinc avec souvent élévation de la zincémie. De façon chronique le sport intensif induit des hypozincémies reflétant probablement une réduction des pools de zinc. Ces carences en zinc pourraient influencer la performance sportive par plusieurs mécanismes, dont des modifications hémorhéologiques (moindre déformabilité des hématies et augmentation de viscosité sanguine) et des perturbations du métabolisme glucidique.

<abstract>Zinc is a trace element that stabilizes membranes and interacts with other bivalent cations. It is a compound consisting mostly of metalloproteins. It exerts insulin-like effects and increases erythrocyte deformability. Exercise has short-term effects on zinc that can be described as a shift in body zinc reparation, with a general increase in serum zinc. The chronic effect of exercise is the reduction of serum zinc (fig 1), reflecting a depletion in the body's zinc stores with a parallel decrease in fitness. Recent reports of disturbances in both rheologic and metabolic response to exercise in hypozincemic subjects support the hypothesis that zinc deficiencies disturb the body's adaptation to exercise because they induce alterations in blood rheology, which in turn impairs aerobic glucose metabolism.</abstract>

<abstract lang="fr">Résumé: Le zinc est un stabilisateur de membranes qui module la fonction de protéines membranaires et interfère avec I'action des autres cations bivalents, mais c'est surtout une composante nécessaire à la fonction de nombreuses métalloprotéines. II exerce des effets insulinomimétiques et favorise la déformabilité des hématies. L'exercice à court terme entraîne des redistributions du zinc avec souvent élévation de la zincémie. De façon chronique le sport intensif induit des hypozincémies reflétant probablement une réduction des pools de zinc. Ces carences en zinc pourraient influencer la performance sportive par plusieurs mécanismes, dont des modifications hémorhéologiques (moindre déformabilité des hématies et augmentation de viscosité sanguine) et des perturbations du métabolisme glucidique.</abstract>
<abstract lang="en">Summary: Zinc is a trace element that stabilizes membranes and interacts with other bivalent cations. It is a compound consisting mostly of metalloproteins. It exerts insulin-like effects and increases erythrocyte deformability. Exercise has short-term effects on zinc that can be described as a shift in body zinc reparation, with a general increase in serum zinc. The chronic effect of exercise is the reduction of serum zinc (fig 1), reflecting a depletion in the body's zinc stores with a parallel decrease in fitness. Recent reports of disturbances in both rheologic and metabolic response to exercise in hypozincemic subjects support the hypothesis that zinc deficiencies disturb the body's adaptation to exercise because they induce alterations in blood rheology, which in turn impairs aerobic glucose metabolism.</abstract>
