  • Hyperferralic (flh): having ferralic properties and a CEC55 (by 1 M NH4OAc) of less than 16 cmolc kg-1 clay in at least some layer starting within 100 cm of the soil surface.
  • Hypoferralic (flw): having in a layer, 30 cm or more thick, starting within 100 cm of the soil surface a CEC (by 1 M NH4OAc) of less than 4 cmolc kg-1 fine earth and a Munsell chroma, moist, of 5 or more or a hue redder than 10 YR (in Arenosols only).
