World Wide Web Consortium

Le World Wide Web Consortium, abrégé par le sigle W3C, est un organisme de standardisation chargé de promouvoir la compatibilité des technologies du World Wide Web.

Il a été fondé en octobre 1994 sous la forme d'un consortium à but non-lucratif.

Le réseau du W3C

La gestion du W3C est assurée conjointement par le Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) aux États-Unis, l'European Research Consortium for Informatics and Mathematics (ERCIM) en Europe et l'Université Keio au Japon.

Le W3C entretient un réseau de correspondants dans les pays suivants :

• Sénégal : le bureau est hébergé par le Département Génie Informatique de L'Ecole Supérieure Polytechnique de Dakar. Le site est bilingue : français et wolof.
