Abstract
The impact of inborn or acquired deafness upon children appears to be very severe and it is of great importance to help deaf children in the daily communication with normaly-hearing people first and also to give them the easier access to the knowledge. This paper deals with these two aspects of hearing impaired learning. As an example, we present in this paper the microSIRENE system that we developed some years ago. Then, we discuss the interest for the impaired children of some news methods coming from ``artificial intelligenc{e}''and the cognitive sciences to help the children by an ``intelligent computer-aided instruction``.
