Abstract

This paper is concerned with the problem of modeling and automating the reasoning process of experts in the task of real time interpretation of industrial signal. These tasks are highly critical for both safety and cost issues. Our objective is to propose a generic architecture based on advanced Artificial Intelligence techniques (especially multi-agent architectures and hypothetical reasoning) that could be applied to different classes of industrial signals. A first version of our architecture was developed in the framework of the ESPRIT AITRAS project, especially for the non destructive examination of steam generator tubes in heat exchangers of a nuclear power plant. We will present the basic ideas underlying the approach together with the principles of the generic architecture developed.
