Abstract

A communication profile is defined as a stack of protocols chosen by users to support their distributed applications. The choice of such a profile will directly influence the performance of the whole system. This paper addresses performance evaluation of communication profiles in Real Time System. To achieve this objective, we proposed a simulation framework based on object-oriented concepts and using QNAP2 simulation language. Our approach is to model one or several protocols of one or several related layers as atomic objects before integrating them in a whole profile. The performance study of communication profiles enables an ``a priori'' validation during the conception phase of the life cycle. We will present results concerning the performance evaluation of the MMS/TCP/CSMA-CD profile.
