Abstract

The problem of field strengh prediction is mainly characterised by an incomplete specification due to the stochastic nature of the encountered environments. The neural mechanisms appear to be very outstanding in this difficult context, even though, until now this approach has rarely been tested in this domain. In this paper, new kinds of semi-empirical models of field strength prediction are constructed by using different Multi-Layer Perceptron architectures. This approach expects to overcome some of the limitations inherent in existing semi-empirical models\, : linear behaviour of the statistical analysis used in the construction of the models, low degree of freedom of the models due to the number of their parameters and unfitness for learning new situations.
