Abstract

Programming languages for complex data bases are also elaborated in accordance with the usual programming approaches such as logic. In this paper, we present a language called ERCLOG applied to the complete entity relationship model (CER), combining the complex objects and the entity relationship features. ERCLOG is a logic-based programming language which programs are in fact constituted of production rules. It manipulates set-oriented and functional terms in the data structures. ERCLOG is powerful enough to be compared to DATALOG manipulating sets and functions, with however more simpleness of use.
