Abstract
A spoken Chinese understanding system which accepts continuous speech and produces {\em Lisp}-executable functions is presented. Multiple knowledge source organization model, syntactic structure construction by forward-backward inference, phoneme model of speech profiles and knowledge-based tone classification are proposed and implemented in order to remove the uncertainty of speech signals. Experimental results are also given and discussed.
