Abstract

Statistical process control (SPC) is one of the key methods in modern process management to improve the quality of a manufacturing process. The implementation of this method requires expertise about the process for its monitoring, diagnosis and optimisation. We present in this paper our experience in developing a conceptual process model which represents human expertise about a manufacturing process. We demonstrate, first, how an initial model was obtained and successively refined, and second, how task and problem-solving knowledge was identified and represented by using predefined models from the COMMONKADS library.
