Abstract
This paper describes the extraction, recognition and exploitation of dimensioning technical drawings at the time of transfer from a digitized form to a CAD system. To separate the dimensioning from the rest of the drawing, firstly, the small connected components are removed. Then, by means of a high-level analysis carried out in parallel on the drawing, the dimension lines are isolated. Finally, thanks to a morphology-based analysis, a dimension is attributed to each arrow. A brief summary of the problems which have been encountered when dimensions are used as an aid for drawing interpretation is given.
