Abstract
An accurate slant removal algorithm that can easily be adapted to any system is presented. Projection profile technique and the Wigner-Ville distribution are used. By including the algorithm in optical character recognition (OCR) system the improvement of the results reaches 3% for cursive words and 1.5% for hand-printed words.
