<OtherAbstract Type="PIP" Language="eng"><AbstractText>A conference meeting held in Accra, Ghana, involved a discussion of HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted disease (STD) prevention. The conference focused on the need to evolve specific strategies to lighten the burden of disease, to set up a technical resource network on the continent and identify people who would serve as resources. It also worked on strategies for the development of a regional STDs program. The workshop produced viable and innovative strategies for approaching young people, women, and other vulnerable groups in order to enable them to make better choices about STDs. Meanwhile, in Lusaka, Zambia, Health Minister Nkandu Luo encouraged those attending the workshops to involve the general public in their deliberations.</AbstractText>
