Abstract
We describe a thyrotoxic patient with choreic movements. The latter gradually receded and disappeared as the patient was treated with methimazole and β-adrenoceptor blocker, and the improvement deteriorated during a β-adrenoceptor challenge test. Our findings suggest that the pathogenesis of thyrotoxic chorea seems more likely to be of biochemical origin rather than due to structural changes in the basal ganglia.
