Abstract

An accurate diagnosis of lymphedema is essential for appropriate therapy. To diagnose lymphedema is simple comparatively but it often has difficulty in the treatment. In most patients, the diagnosis of lymphedema can be readily determined from the clinical history and physical examination. Therapy of peripheral lymphedema is divided into conservative (non-operative) and operative methods. In the treatment of peripheral lymphedema of the limbs, improvement in swelling can usually be achieved by non-operative therapy.
