Initially misidentified as <named-content content-type="genus-species">Acinetobacter lwoffii</named-content> by Vitek-2, the isolate was subsequently identified as <italic>W</italic>. <named-content content-type="genus-species">chitiniclastica</named-content> by matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization–time of flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) and 16S rRNA gene sequencing. While the clinical significance of the isolate in this case is unclear, it highlights the superior performance of MALDI-TOF MS for bacterial identification.</p></div></front></TEI><pmc article-type="case-report"><pmc-comment>The publisher of this article does not allow downloading of the full text in XML form.</pmc-comment>
