Abstract
Summary: I have attempted to provide an overview of the entire problem of circumcision. It is hoped that the rationale and nonrationale for routine neonatal circumcision have been discussed without a great deal of bias. There has been a definite attempt to avoid humor in this discussion, as both humor and emotion tend greatly to cloud the real underlying issues. It is also hoped that by recounting the various complications of circumcision seen by me and described in the literature many of these complications will, in the future, become medical oddities rather than frequent occurrences.
