Abstract

Symmary: A case of generalized lymphangioleiomyomatosis with pulmonary manifestation in a 24-year-old woman is reported with clinical, lymphographic, operative and autoptic findings. Proliferation of smooth, muscle cells in the lymphatic system leads to chylothorax, sometimes associated with chylopericardium or chylascos. Honeycomblung is found at radiologic examination in later stages. Conservative therapy has only a temporary effect, whilst operative treatment with pleurodesis prolongs survival only for a short time. This illness, with its poor prognosis, is seen in women only.
