Abstract
Abstract: In the previous chapter we saw that the properties of the electron as a particle (which is localized) and a wave (which extends over a region of space) may be brought together by treating it as a wave packet. We now require to develop a mathematical means of representing it in order that we can perform similar calculations to those for which we use Newtonian mechanics in the case of a particle.
