Abstract
The custom tray is recommended for impressions in which it is desirable to establish precise borders, such as Kennedy class I maxillary partial dentures, where an accurate postpalatal seal is a requirement. The peripheries, including the postpalatal seal, can be established with a high degree of accuracy with a custom tray. A procedure is described that does not require a primary impression or a primary cast to make a custom tray for elastomeric impression materials.
