Abstract

The scope of Orthodontic treatment then in adults is considerable. At examination it is prudent to assess carefully the patients wishes and expectations in relation to treatment. Many adults can be treated by orthodontics alone but for the remainder the multifaceted nature of the work involved calls for a high degree of co-operation and understanding between the different dental disciplines involved. Special attention has to be given to the retention phase. The patients satisfaction and fulfilment with well executed treatment is generally remarkable and suggests that the increase in demand for adult orthodontics will continue.
