Abstract
The dental clinician wishing to achieve an optimal esthetic restorative result must possess a thorough knowledge of esthetic and biologic periodontal principles before proceeding with treatment. The periodontal infrastructure has the capability to be successfully modified or enhanced before restorative therapy in a manner that potentiates the final treatment outcome. Periodontal surgical advances offer the prospects of returning the periodontal environment to near perfection. Both soft tissue and osseous enhancement solutions are now readily available. Collaboration between the restorative dentist and periodontal specialist is essential in the development of a final treatment plan to realize the fullest potential for restorative excellence.
