Abstract
Nicholls, K. H. 1988. The identification of some Mallomonas species of the M. doignonii group (Chrysophyceae). ‐ Nord. J. Bot. 8: 109–116. Copenhagen. ISSN 0107–055X. The recent published literature on species of the Mallomonas doignonii group (Chrysophyceae) includes several errors in identification. Part of the reason for this probably relates to the apparent scarcity of M. doignonii itself (imperfectly known specimens from England, France and possibly, Texas). Mallomonas doignonii has been rediscovered in Ontario, Canada and an emended description is given. Features useful for identification of other similar species are also given and two new taxa (M. doignonii var. robusticostis and M. torquata var. torquata f.simplex) are described.
