Abstract: The term proposed by Cross, Iddings, Pirrson, and Washington in 1902 for the shapes and arrangement of crystals in an igneous rock. Best defined as the arrangement of the constituents in a rock, i.e., flow fabric in lava, stratification or bedding in sedimentary rocks; foliation in metamorphic rocks.
