Abstract: Objectives: The aim of this study was to analyze the bone density around immediately loaded oral implants by a new volumetric CT scan (Maxiscan) and to compare it with that of unloaded implants.

<hi rend="bold">Abstract: </hi>
<hi rend="bold"> Objectives: </hi>
The aim of this study was to analyze the bone density around immediately loaded oral implants by a new volumetric CT scan (Maxiscan) and to compare it with that of unloaded implants.</p>
<p>
<hi rend="bold">Material and methods: </hi>
Four patients with an age range from 44 to 65 years old were selected for this study. All the patients needed a prosthetic rehabilitation in partially edentulous posterior maxillas or mandibles. A total of 12 oral implants were placed in the four patients. Six of these implants were immediately loaded while six were left unloaded. Six months after placement, immediately loaded and unloaded oral implants were analyzed by a volumetric CT scan.</p>
<p>
<hi rend="bold">Results: </hi>
The overall success rate in this study with immediately loaded oral implants was 100%. The radiological assessments showed that the mean densitometric profile, which is a measure of bone mineralization, was higher in the immediately loaded group than in the unloaded group. The differences observed between the two groups of oral implants (immediately loaded and unloaded) were statistically significant (
<hi rend="italic">P</hi>
<0.05). The bone was significantly more dense around immediately loaded than unloaded oral implants on the basis of a radiological assessment.</p>
<p>
<hi rend="bold">Conclusion: </hi>
The innovative aspect of this clinical study is to propose a new method to analyze the bone density, reducing the need for histological analysis from human biopsy.</p>

<p>Le but de cette étude a été d'analyser la densité osseuse autour des implants buccaux immédiatement mis en charge par un nouveau scanCT volumétrique (Maxiscan) et de la comparer à celle d'implants non‐chargés. Quatre patients de 44 à 65 ans ont été sélectionnés pour cette étude. Ils nécessitaient tous une prothèse dans la partie postérieure du maxillaire ou de la mandibule. En tout, douze implants ont été placés chez ces quatre patients. Six de ces implants ont été mis en charge immédiatement et six ont eû une charge postposée. Six mois après le placement, les implants buccaux immédiatement chargés et ceux sans charge ont été analysés par un scanCT volumétrique. Le taux de succès général de cette étude avec des implants immédiatement mis en charge était de 100%. L'évaluation radiologique a montré un profil de densitométrie moyen, c'est‐à‐dire une mesure de la minéralisation osseuse, qui était supérieure dans le groupe avec charge immédiate par rapport au contrôle. Les différences observées entre les deux groupes étaient caractéristiques (p<0,05). L'os était significativement plus dense autour des implants immédiatement mis en charge qu'autour des contrôles sur base de l'évaluation radiologique. Cette étude propose une nouvelle méthode d'examen de la densité osseuse qui réduirait la nécessité d'une analyse histologique de biopsie humaine.</p>

: Es war das Ziel dieser Studie, die Knochendichte um sofortbelastete orale Implantate mit einer neuen volumetrischen CT‐Aufnahmetechnik (Maxiscan) zu analysiern. Zudem wurde die ermittelte Knochendichte mit derjenigen von unbelasteten Implantaten verglichen.</p>

<hi rend="italic">Material und Methoden:</hi>
Für die Studie wurden vier Patienten im Alter von 44 bis 65 Jahren ausgewählt. Alle Patienten benötigten eine prothetische Versorgung im teilbezahnten posterioren Unter‐ oder Oberkiefer. Bei den 4 Patienten wurden insgesamt 12 Implantate eingesetzt. Sechs dieser Implantate wurden sofort belastet während 6 unbelastet blieben. Sechs Monate nach dem Einsetzen wurden die belasteten und die unbelasteten oralen Implantate mit einer volumetrischen CT‐Aufnahmetechnik analysiert.</p>

<hi rend="italic">Resultate:</hi>
In dieser Studie betrug die Erfolgsrate mit sofortbelasteten oralen Implantaten 100%. Die radiologische Auswertung zeigte, dass das mittlere densitometrische Profil, welches ein Mass für Knochenmineralisation ist, bei den sofortbelasteten Implantaten höher war als bei den unbelasteten. Die beobachteten Unterschiede zwischen den zwei Gruppen (sofortbelastet und unbelastet) waren statistisch signifikant (P<0.05). Basierend auf der radiologischen Auswertung war der Knochen um die sofortbelasteten Implantate dichter als um die unbelasteten Implantate.</p>

<hi rend="italic">Schlussfolgerung:</hi>
Der innovative Aspekt dieser Studie besteht darin, dass eine neue Methode zur Analyse der Knochendichte vorgeschlagen wird. Dadurch wird der Bedarf an histologischen Analysen von humanem Biopsiematerial reduziert.</p>

: La intención de este estudio fue analizar la densidad del hueso alrededor de implantes inmediatamente cargados por medio de un nuevo escáner CT volumétrico (Maxiscan) y compararla con aquella de implantes sin cargar.
<hi rend="italic">Material y Métodos</hi>
: Se seleccionaron para este estudio cuatro pacientes con edades desde 44 a 65 años. Todos los pacientes necesitaban rehabilitación protésica en los maxilares o mandíbulas posteriores parcialmente edéntulas. Se colocaron un total de doce implantes orales en los 4 pacientes. Seis de estos implantes se cargaron inmediatamente mientras que 6 se dejaron sin carga. Seis meses tras la colocación se analizaron los implantes cargados inmediatamente y los no cargados por medio de un escáner CT volumétrico.
<hi rend="italic">Resultados</hi>
: El índice total de éxito en este estudio con implantes orales cargados inmediatamente fue del 100%. Las valoraciones radiológicas mostraron que el perfil densitométrico medio, esto es una medida de la mineralización del hueso, fue mayor en el grupo inmediatamente cargado que en el grupo sin carga. Las diferencias observadas entre los dos grupos de implantes orales (carga inmediata y sin carga) fue estadísticamente significativa (P<0.05). El hueso fue significativamente mas denso alrededor de los implantes inmediatamente cargados que en los no cargados en base a las valoraciones radiológicas.
<hi rend="italic">Conclusión</hi>
: El aspecto innovador de este estudio clínico es proponer un nuevo método de análisis de la densidad ósea, reduciendo la necesidad de análisis histológico de biopsias humanas.</p>

<abstract>Material and methods: Four patients with an age range from 44 to 65 years old were selected for this study. All the patients needed a prosthetic rehabilitation in partially edentulous posterior maxillas or mandibles. A total of 12 oral implants were placed in the four patients. Six of these implants were immediately loaded while six were left unloaded. Six months after placement, immediately loaded and unloaded oral implants were analyzed by a volumetric CT scan.</abstract>
<abstract>Results: The overall success rate in this study with immediately loaded oral implants was 100%. The radiological assessments showed that the mean densitometric profile, which is a measure of bone mineralization, was higher in the immediately loaded group than in the unloaded group. The differences observed between the two groups of oral implants (immediately loaded and unloaded) were statistically significant (P<0.05). The bone was significantly more dense around immediately loaded than unloaded oral implants on the basis of a radiological assessment.</abstract>
<abstract>Conclusion: The innovative aspect of this clinical study is to propose a new method to analyze the bone density, reducing the need for histological analysis from human biopsy.</abstract>
<abstract lang="fr">Le but de cette étude a été d'analyser la densité osseuse autour des implants buccaux immédiatement mis en charge par un nouveau scanCT volumétrique (Maxiscan) et de la comparer à celle d'implants non‐chargés. Quatre patients de 44 à 65 ans ont été sélectionnés pour cette étude. Ils nécessitaient tous une prothèse dans la partie postérieure du maxillaire ou de la mandibule. En tout, douze implants ont été placés chez ces quatre patients. Six de ces implants ont été mis en charge immédiatement et six ont eû une charge postposée. Six mois après le placement, les implants buccaux immédiatement chargés et ceux sans charge ont été analysés par un scanCT volumétrique. Le taux de succès général de cette étude avec des implants immédiatement mis en charge était de 100%. L'évaluation radiologique a montré un profil de densitométrie moyen, c'est‐à‐dire une mesure de la minéralisation osseuse, qui était supérieure dans le groupe avec charge immédiate par rapport au contrôle. Les différences observées entre les deux groupes étaient caractéristiques (p<0,05). L'os était significativement plus dense autour des implants immédiatement mis en charge qu'autour des contrôles sur base de l'évaluation radiologique. Cette étude propose une nouvelle méthode d'examen de la densité osseuse qui réduirait la nécessité d'une analyse histologique de biopsie humaine.</abstract>
<abstract lang="de">Ziel: Es war das Ziel dieser Studie, die Knochendichte um sofortbelastete orale Implantate mit einer neuen volumetrischen CT‐Aufnahmetechnik (Maxiscan) zu analysiern. Zudem wurde die ermittelte Knochendichte mit derjenigen von unbelasteten Implantaten verglichen. Material und Methoden: Für die Studie wurden vier Patienten im Alter von 44 bis 65 Jahren ausgewählt. Alle Patienten benötigten eine prothetische Versorgung im teilbezahnten posterioren Unter‐ oder Oberkiefer. Bei den 4 Patienten wurden insgesamt 12 Implantate eingesetzt. Sechs dieser Implantate wurden sofort belastet während 6 unbelastet blieben. Sechs Monate nach dem Einsetzen wurden die belasteten und die unbelasteten oralen Implantate mit einer volumetrischen CT‐Aufnahmetechnik analysiert. Resultate: In dieser Studie betrug die Erfolgsrate mit sofortbelasteten oralen Implantaten 100%. Die radiologische Auswertung zeigte, dass das mittlere densitometrische Profil, welches ein Mass für Knochenmineralisation ist, bei den sofortbelasteten Implantaten höher war als bei den unbelasteten. Die beobachteten Unterschiede zwischen den zwei Gruppen (sofortbelastet und unbelastet) waren statistisch signifikant (P<0.05). Basierend auf der radiologischen Auswertung war der Knochen um die sofortbelasteten Implantate dichter als um die unbelasteten Implantate. Schlussfolgerung: Der innovative Aspekt dieser Studie besteht darin, dass eine neue Methode zur Analyse der Knochendichte vorgeschlagen wird. Dadurch wird der Bedarf an histologischen Analysen von humanem Biopsiematerial reduziert.</abstract>
<abstract lang="es">Objetivos: La intención de este estudio fue analizar la densidad del hueso alrededor de implantes inmediatamente cargados por medio de un nuevo escáner CT volumétrico (Maxiscan) y compararla con aquella de implantes sin cargar. Material y Métodos: Se seleccionaron para este estudio cuatro pacientes con edades desde 44 a 65 años. Todos los pacientes necesitaban rehabilitación protésica en los maxilares o mandíbulas posteriores parcialmente edéntulas. Se colocaron un total de doce implantes orales en los 4 pacientes. Seis de estos implantes se cargaron inmediatamente mientras que 6 se dejaron sin carga. Seis meses tras la colocación se analizaron los implantes cargados inmediatamente y los no cargados por medio de un escáner CT volumétrico. Resultados: El índice total de éxito en este estudio con implantes orales cargados inmediatamente fue del 100%. Las valoraciones radiológicas mostraron que el perfil densitométrico medio, esto es una medida de la mineralización del hueso, fue mayor en el grupo inmediatamente cargado que en el grupo sin carga. Las diferencias observadas entre los dos grupos de implantes orales (carga inmediata y sin carga) fue estadísticamente significativa (P<0.05). El hueso fue significativamente mas denso alrededor de los implantes inmediatamente cargados que en los no cargados en base a las valoraciones radiológicas. Conclusión: El aspecto innovador de este estudio clínico es proponer un nuevo método de análisis de la densidad ósea, reduciendo la necesidad de análisis histológico de biopsias humanas.</abstract>
