Abstract

This piece presents a metaphoric scaffold, a Time Cable from which to build an invisible building. The scaffold is temporary, to be torn down when the building is finished, but it can be recreated when a new building is contemplated. As with all such geo‐spatial constructs, it is merely a diagram to hold in one's mind while mastering the systemic approach to family therapy pioneered by the Milan Associates. Since this is their own model, they do not need a scaffold. For me, trying to teach their model, it has proved useful as a working tool.
