Abstract

This article compares Victor Hugo's drama Marion de Lorme and Amilcare Ponchielli's opera Marion Delorme. The libretto and the original drama are analysed extracting four elements of the texts: (1) the use of stage directions, (2) passages where the libretto remains close to Hugo's original text, (3) those where the libretto changes the text moderately so as to create new situations and, (4) those where the librettist changes the original text significantly. The document includes some information about the initial operatic production and subsequent productions in Italy and elsewhere throughout the 19th and 20th centuries. There are also notes on the structures of the drama and the libretto.

<abstract xml:lang="it">L'articolo mette a confronto il dramma di Victor Hugo Marion de Lorme e l'opera di Amilcare Ponchielli Marion Delorme. Il libretto e il dramma originale sono analizzati a partire da quattro elementi del testo: (1) l'uso delle indicazioni sceniche, (2) i brani dove il libretto rimane fedele al testo originale di Hugo, (3) quelli dove il libretto cambia leggermente il modello per creare nuove situazioni e (4) quelli in cui il librettista lo modifica in modo sostanziale. Lo studio include alcune informazioni sugli allestimenti dell'opera in Italia e altrove lungo i secoli XIX e XX. Vi sono anche alcune osservazioni sulle strutture del dramma e del libretto.</abstract>
