Abstract
Fernand de Dartein archives, discovered over 2000-2012, offer a large variety of documents including drawings, watercolours, copies, photos, letters and brochures. Besides files and preparatory plates to the Atlas engravings, which were already brought to the attention of researchers, a particular place must be given to the workbooks because plans, elevations, details of masonry, drawings of capitals, and goldsmith pieces were almost always drawn on site often before the important restorations of the second half of the XIXth century. The finding of Fernand de Dartein's drawings led a team of researches from the Centre d'Etudes Supérieures de Civilisation Médiévale of Poitiers to implement a research programme devoted to this invaluable collection. The CESCM team has already achieved a vast campaign of digitization of more than 2500 documents. This first scrutiny of the corpus points towards various future developments, both scientific and practical. The second stage of the project will be dedicated to image identification and indexation in ROMANE, a digital and text database developed by the CESCM Photothèque, devoted to the study of Romanesque art. This laborious and thorough analysis will enable both the scientific community (national and international), and the broader public to discover fernand de Dartein and his unique work.
